The Scranton city council held a public hearing at its Dec. 8 meeting and approved an amendment to the budget for the 2015/16 year.
Monthly reports were provided by:
- Ken Paxton, Greene County Chamber and Development on housing, new businesses, trade shows and daycare needs.
- Dave Dideriksen, H.F. and Maude E. Memorial Library.
- Dawn Rudolph, Scranton Community Center on programs, advertising, HVAC checks and rentals.
- Chad Kirk, maintenance, discussed cleaning the sediment tank, snow fence, tree work, sweeper tires and bids for a snow blowers and city signage.
The council approved the purchase of a 28” Toro snow blower. HVAC checks, city hall signage and the Community Center building repair agenda items were tabled so more bids could be received.
A resolution was approved fixing a date for a public hearing on a proposal to vacate and dispose of property owned by the city. The property is the alley in Block 18 of the Original town of Scranton.
Following a review of recommendations from IMWCA, the city’s workers compensation carrier, the council will work on a return to work policy. A draft will be presented at the next council meeting.
At the conclusion of the meeting, mayor Randy Winkelman (who took office in November following the election), administered the oath of office to new council members Julie McAleer and Connie Scrivner, as well as Ethel Subbert, who was re-elected to another term.
The next regular meeting of the council is Tuesday, Jan. 12.
